Let's face it, we've all turned to alcohol at some point in our lives when everything seemed to be going wrong. When your broken, battered heart is tearing you apart, drowning your sorrows in alcohol seems like a great way to escape reality, but in the end all you are doing is creating more heartache for yourself. Love is intoxicating enough without adding alcohol into the mix.

Ironically, excessive drinking is a symptom of depression and depression is a result of excessive drinking. Many people drink to cope with stress and numb their emotions but just because you're numb doesn't mean your problems will be solved, if anything they will just get worse. Running away from your problems is a race you will never win so stop drinking your pain away. 

If you want to find yourself calling your ex in the middle of the night crying and making a fool of yourself, have at it! But facing your problems sober will make you a stronger person.

That's the problem with drinking, I thought, as I poured myself a drink. If something bad happens you drink in an attempt to forget; if something good happens you drink in order to celebrate; and if nothing happens you drink to make something happen.
